CPCUG Boothstaffers Have Fun and Get Perks, Too!

From Friday, August 8, to Saturday, August 16, the Capital PC User Group (CPCUG) will host an Internet Cafe adjacent to the Montgomery Community Television (MCT) booth at the Montgomery County Fair. CPCUG will have a display area and seven computers in a prime location in the air-conditioned Building 6 (Chilly Hall). CPCUG and the DVUG (CPCUG's Digital Video SIG) will staff this booth.

We are asking for 4 hours of your time to answer questions CPCUG Internet Cafe patrons may have. Don’t worry—there will be senior volunteers to call upon if you do not have all the answers, and an information sheet for you at the booth. We will have literature about CPCUG, including CPCUG class schedules for the fall. CPCUG and the DVUG will have classes on various aspects of computing, including video editing, YouTube, and streaming. Classes are held in Rockville at the MCT site and at the hands-on CPCUG computer lab in Annandale, Virginia.

We need volunteers to staff our CPCUG booth at the Fair from 10 am to 10 pm daily (starting at 3 pm on Friday, August 8). We seek two volunteers for three daily 4-hour shifts (10 am-2 pm, 2-6 pm, and 6-10 pm).

Boothstaffers get free admission to the Fair on the days they volunteer.

How To Become a CPCUG Boothstaffer

If you (and a friend, spouse, or significant other) would like to help staff our booth, review the boothstaffing schedule at—

Additional Perk

The requirement for a lifetime membership is a cumulative total of 200 hours of volunteer effort for the Fair. There are additional volunteer opportunities during the year, including some immediately prior to Fair opening. You can also earn up to 40 hours during Fair week.

Videos About the Fair

Several 15-minute videos about the Fair were made recently through Access Montgomery Television (AMTV) by CPCUG Digital Video SIG producers. These videos are being streamed at—

These videos will also be shown through August 16, 2008, on AMTV channel 21. The AMTV21 schedule is available at
