Make Your Web Site Work
The Return on Investment (ROI) Method
Speaker: Dirk Johnson, Owner, ROIWebsites

Many business owners and managers are frustrated with the performance of their Web site, with little to show for the cost of development. And some have not yet made the investment, unsure of how to proceed. There's no doubt that tackling the World Wide Web is a real challenge for most, often because no one has explained it in business terms.

Dirk Johnson, owner of ROIWebsites, will discuss how to integrate your business with your Web site, focusing on these issues:

  • Sell More and Spend Less--You can get a return on investment.
  • Web Site Dysfunction--Why business Web sites fail to perform.
  • Attitude Adjustment--Ignoring the Web won't make it go away.
  • Take Ownership--Is your Web site in exile? Bring it home.
  • Never Look Back--A little success goes a long way.
This presentation, designed for all business owners and managers, provides the information you need to make smart decisions about your Web site strategy. There will also be ample time for questions.

Speaker: Dirk Johnson has been a successful small business entrepreneur since 1985. Because he understands business and the Web, he founded and owns ROIWebsites. Drawing on his extensive sales, marketing, and writing experience, he also provides Web site design, marketing, and revenue strategy consultation for varied small business Web sites.

He was the founder of the popular Detail Master line of model car building accessories, sold in hobby shops worldwide. Always a student of marketing and small business management, he was one of the first in the hobby industry to have an e-commerce-enabled Web site. In January 1998, he sold the Detail Master business and started the Model Car Hub, a portal Web site for model car enthusiasts.

Dirk has also developed training programs, including the "Web Bootcamp for Business," through which he has trained numerous small business owners in partnership with Freelance Technologies, Inc. Dirk's e-book, Turn Your Hobby Into a Money-Making Website! What Works and Why, a comprehensive study of how to build successful niche-interest Web sites, was published by Intellectua.com. In addition, Dirk was a popular speaker last year at CPCUG's Internet SIG when he presented on the topic, "Turning a Hobby Into a Successful Web Site."

Active in the Loudoun County, Virginia, Chamber of Commerce, Dirk has presented several of its small business management seminars and was selected as its Entrepreneur of the Year in 1994.
